Though Facebook has evolved "likes" to include "reactions," there is a consistent theme of judging the content of your posts by how many "likes" you receive. "Likes" can be thought of as a simple barometer of approval. You post baby photos on Facebook and 50 of your friends like it. You make a poignant statement on Twitter and someone retweets it.
