Plasma therapy begins in Nawabshah

By Rashid Zia Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) The Sindh government has started the facility of treatment of coronavirus (COVID-19) affected patients through plasma therapy at Nawabshah, it was disclosed by the Commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Syed Mohsin Ali Shah, on June 24. He revealed that a team headed by the Chairman of the National Institute of Blood Diseases Karachi, Dr Tahir Shamsi, will be working in collaboration with the Peoples Medical University Hospital to treat the COVID-19 affected patients through plasma therapy.  Dr Tahir Shamsi, who was also present on the occasion, expressed the confidence that score of lives of the COVID-19 affected patients could be saved by plasma therapy.  Speaking at the inauguration at Regional Blood Center, the Commissioner informed that the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority had donated the plasma collecting machine.  He described it as an excellent initiative of the provinc...

Project management seminar at SBBU

Milk shops raided, fined in Nawabshah

By Rashid Zia Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) The influential dairy farm owners have been found guilty selling health injurious chemical and water mixed milk after they broke the seals of their shops. The milk shops selling sub-standard milk were sealed by Assistant Commissioner, Nawabshah, Nabeel Ahmed Sindhu, after a city-wide raid carried out to check milk quality on the directive of Deputy Commissioner, Abrar Ahmed Jaffar.  Heading a team, the Assistant Commissioner along with veterinarian, Dr Tariq Noorani, conducted raids on milk shops following large scale public complaints in different city areas.  The team found dairy shops selling milk prepared with various chemicals like detergent powder, urea fertilizer and other similar components.  The dairy shops were fined and recovered Rs. 45,000 on the spot while huge quantity of sub-standard milk was destroyed and the shops were sealed.  However some of the influential ...

Department of Sindhi established at SBBU

By Rashid Zia Qureshi (Pakistan News &Features Services)  Keeping in view the historic status of Sindhi language and its importance, use and expansion of language, the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU) in Nawabshah has established the department of Sindhi along with creation of required faculty.  The Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Tayyaba Zareef, while congratulating the university faculty and staff members said that the SBBU was the first university where department of Sindhi has been introduced.  "We have to make efforts for the promotion of our mother tongue Sindhi,” she said, adding that establishment of such departments help in promotion and research on the language.  The SBBU Vice Chancellor said that these departments work and research on the creation of different topic and the work done by teachers, writers and poets.  She invited researchers to use their capabilities in the service of Sindhi language.

Police’s sacrifices in peace maintenance highlighted

By Rashid Zia Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) The entry and transfer of vote is being be done at temporary or permanent address mentioned in Computerized National Identity Card according to Section 27 of Rule 2017 of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). SBBU students celebrate Basant festival

Police action against drugs, illegal arms in interior Sindh

In this regard Kazi Ahmed Police arrested accused Ayub Khoso and recovered 1.1 kilogram of charas.  The Police arrested six accused following recovery of cash and cocks involved in cock fight gambling in village Maal Maher. Sindh govt takes fresh water initiatives

This was stated by the Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Syed Hassan Naqvi, during his visit of Asia’s largest Water Ultrafiltration Plant, water checking centre, Sewerage Treatment Plant and Sakrand Water Supply Scheme.  He disclosed that all the water supply and drainage schemes were handed over to the PHED.  The PHED Secretary instructed officials to play role in provision of clean potable water to common man as it is their basic right.  He advised the officials to activate all filtration plants and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.  He also instructed them to complete all the ongoing development schemes of drainage and water supply schemes.  ...

Nawabshah hawkers elect consensus candidates

By Rashid Zia Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) Muhammad Ashraf Quureshi and Abdul Malik were elected as the President and the General Secretary of the Akhbar Farosh Union of Nawabshah on March 12.  The elections were held after the meeting of the general body, presided over by senior hawker Ashraf Qureshi while Farooq Memon and other hawkers were also present on the occasion. President Ashraf Qureshi,  General Secretary Abdul Malik, Vice President Akram Shaikh, Joint Secretary Rizwan Qazi, Treasurer Mansoor Soomro and Office Secretary Aqeel Malik were elected with consensus for a period of two years. The District Control Room was set up on the directives of Deputy Commissioner, Abrar Ahmed Jaffar, while Additional Deputy Commissioner-2, Tariq Ali Solangi, has been appointed as focal person who would remain in touch with all control rooms set up in the district and would submit report to the Sindh government on daily basis.  Meanwhile the leaves of government employees were also suspended forthwith.
