By Masood Sattar Khan (Pakistan News & Features Services) The Governor of Sindh, Imran Ismail, while expressing his dismay over K-Electric functioning, has assured the Karachiites that they will get back over-billing amounts charged by the utility service provider.  "I am going to write a letter tomorrow to the utility services provider asking for forensic audit of excessive billing complaints from the public,” he disclosed while talking to a private news channel on July 12.  He pointed out that irrespective of a penny or thousands of rupees excess billings, the utility service provider has to pay back consumers money.

By Masood Sattar Khan (Pakistan News & Features Services) K-Electric (KE) may have been under fire lately at home for its indifferent services to the large base of its customers in Karachi but Shanghai Electric Power Company Limited (SEP) have showed renewed interested in acquiring its major shares.  The KE authorities have submitted a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX), whose copy was seen by PNFS, informing them about the expression of interest in their entity by SEP. Hearing applications in Deputy Commissioner Office's Malir Camp, the Advisor declared that sending bills without meter reading was a cruel act against poor citizens and he noticed aggrieved consumers sometimes virtually crying during hearing of their applications before the Ombudsman Court.  “How a poor man can afford to pay such inflated bills while they have not enough income for two time's meal,” he observed adding that the KE should address such complaints and send bills as per meter reading.  An applicant, Anjum Muzammil, told the Ombudsman Court that her husband has expired while she has six children and she has been sent an inflated bill on approximation which she was unable to pay.  The Advisor corrected her bi...
