By Abdul Qadir Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) After having done it in Baluchistan, the engineers of Sindh also took to streets when, led by the Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Javed Salim Qureshi, stageda protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) for the attainment of their long standing demands.  Addressing on the occasion, the PEC Chairman affirmed that the council will continue to strive for the attainments of demands for engineers which are being pursued for a long time.  Javed Qureshi urged the authorities to order for the release of payment of technical allowance to engineers as being practiced in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, Punjab and Azad Kashmir.  He said that the government should forthwith remove non-engineers from the slots of engineering professional seats and they should be replaced with qualified engineers. These inaccurate and misleading stereotypes impact adversely on people's struggle to cope with their condition. These were the views of Dr Ayesha Mian, an associate professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the Aga Khan University (AKU) while addressing journalists at a dialogue on mental health at the Karachi Press Club (KPC).  The session was organized by AKU in coordination with the club’s Health Committee.  “The studies show that people with mental illness are much more likely to be a victim than a perpetrator. By Syed Sajid Aziz (Pakistan News & Features Services) “Europe has become popular among Pakistanis after it has been granted GSP Plus by the European Union (EU) early this year.” This was stated by Germany’s Consul General in Karachi Dr Tilo Klinner while addressing the office bearers and members of the Karachi Union of Journalists-D (KUJ) and the Karachi Press Club on May 21. “The GSP Plus status is a proof of confidence shown by the European countries on Pakistan, because of which huge foreign investments are coming here in different sectors,” he remarked, adding that in order to fully exploit the GSP Plus, Pakistan should have to comply with the international conventions it signed earlier.
