Akbar Ali Khan elected AMUOBA President, appointed SSUET Chancellor

  By Abdul Qadir Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) Akbar Ali Khan, son of the distinguished Engr Zakir Ali Khan, has been elected as the President of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA), thereby assuming the position of Chancellor at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET). He succeeds Jawaid Anwar as the university’s fourth Chancellor. SSUET was established in 1993 under the leadership of its founding Chancellor, Engr Z A Nizami. Following his passing in 2013, the role was subsequently held by Engr Adil Usman and Jawaid Anwar. Akbar Ali Khan now takes over this prestigious position, continuing his family’s legacy of service to the institution. Prof. Dr. Sohail Sabir visit to Pakistan

In Karachi he was hosted a dinner by Zakir Ali Khan Panel which was constituted to contest Elections-2018  of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA). at the residence of Akbar Ali Khan, founder  and Chairman of ZAK Panel.  In his speech on the occasion Dr Sohail Sabir said that while in Pakistan he felt delighted for being among  the elite of  Aligarhians and Alumni of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Probe into AMUOBA affairs begins

By Abdul Qadir Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) The Sindh Department of Industries and Commerce, has started an enquiry into the affairs of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA), acting upon the complaints registered by some of the Aligarhians.  In the wake of this enquiry, the results of the AMUOBA Elections 2018, which were held on December 29, were also withheld and will be announced only after the enquiry is completed. According to the complainants, in view of serious violations of association bylaws, irregularities and corruption in association affairs, the High Court of Sindh and the Secretary of Ministry of Industries and Commerce had ordered to conduct inquiry due to which the Association’s election result has already been withheld and sealed. AMOUBA elections suspended, enquiry ordered

By Abdul Qadir Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) The elections of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA), due to be held on December 29, have been suspended by the Government of Sindh. “All the activities connected to forthcoming elections of Executive Committee of the association scheduled to be held on December 29, 2018, are hereby kept in abeyance till submission of the report by the enquiry officer,” Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Secretary to Government of Sindh, notified on December 24.  “With the approval of the competent authority, Muhammad Ali Soomro, Deputy Director (Development Wing), Director of Industries, Government of Sindh, is hereby appointed as Enquiry Officer under Section 16-A of Societies Registration Act 1816 to conduct enquiry into the affairs of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association,” the notification said.  The term of reference of the enquiry includes the determination whether the governing body...

Hectic campaigning underway for AMOUBA elections

By Abdul Qadir Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) Hectic campaigning is going on in connection with the election-2018 of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) due to be held on December 29. At present the AMUOBA is running the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and its affiliate Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT).   Presently the two institutions are being run by AMUOBA's President and Chancellor Jawaid Anwar who had emerged victorious in the last elections as a candidate of the Zakir Ali Khan Panel.  However, this time during the upcoming Elections 2018, he has joined hands with the Nizami Group.  The Zakir Ali Khan group is being headed by its founder and chairman, Akbar Ali Khan, who has formed a panel and is likely to give tough time to their opponents. Veteran Aligarhian passes away

By Abdul Qadir Qureshi (Pakistan News & Features Services) Muneer Muhammad Khan, Member, Executive Committee, Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) who passed away on January 13 was laid to rest at the DHA Graveyard in Karachi the following day.  His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at Mubarak Masjid in DHA Phase V Extension after Asr prayers which was attended by a large number of fellow Aligarhians, friends and relatives.  Meanwhile in a condolence message, Engr Anwar Ali, Vice President, AMUOBA, has expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the death of Muneer Mohammed Khan and prayed that may Allah SWT rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to bereaved family to bear this loss.

SSUET edges out Virtual University in Independence Day Table Tennis series

Sir Syed’s bicentennial birth anniversary celebrations underway

SSUET management meeting the challenge

AMUOBA remembers Dr A T Khan
