China's central bank injects 180 billion Yuan into market

China's central bank on June 19 pumped cash into the banking system via reverse repos to maintain liquidity. 

The People's Bank of China injected a total of 180 billion Yuan (about 25.4 billion US dollars) into the market, including 70 billion Yuan through seven-day reverse repos at an interest rate of 2.2 percent and 110 billion Yuan of 14-day contract at an interest rate of 2.35 percent, according to a statement on the website of the central bank. 

The move was intended to maintain stable liquidity in the banking system, the central bank said. 

As 100 billion Yuan of reverse repos and 240 billion Yuan of medium-term lending facility (MLF) matured on June 19, the operation led to a net withdrawal of 160 billion Yuan from the market. 

A reverse repo is a process in which the central bank purchases securities from commercial banks through bidding, with an agreement to sell them back in the future.

China’s maize-soybean technology brings bumper harvest in Punjab

The yields of soybean and maize reached 1,304 kg/ha and 8,596 kg/ha respectively, which exhibited satisfactory results. This was indeed encouraging news for local farmers who desired growing soybean without curbing the cultivation of maize, the Gwadar Pro, a Chinese website, reported July 7.  Maize harvest in this inter-cropping field outdistanced the country’s average maize yield which was only around 5,000 kg per hectare. China's port city Tianjin houses beautiful mosque

By Masood Sattar Khan (Pakistan News & Features Services) Tianjin, one the China’s busiest port cities and close to Beijing, has a beautiful masque sprawling on 1970 meters with all modern facilities for worshippers.  The famous Tianjin East Mosque is located in downtown at Ermalu Road in Nankai district. Tianjin is estimated to have around a Muslim population of 180,000.  The mosque was built anew in 2008 when it was relocated to shift for more spacious space to facilitate the local Muslims.  The new mosque is very beautiful with modern facilities thus the atmosphere becomes more comfortable for the worshippers. The walls of the main prayer hall are decorated with verses from Holy Quran.
