KARACHI: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, along with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, attended the inauguration of the Cardiac Wing of Saifee Hospital at the Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah University Auditorium in North Nazimabad, Karachi.
The Finance Minister delivered the keynote address at the ceremony and appreciated the establishment of the new cardiac facility, describing it as an important step towards providing timely and world-class cardiac care closer to patients’ homes.
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb highlighted the facility’s state-of-the-art catheterization laboratories and advanced diagnostic and interventional capabilities, saying they reflected the standard of healthcare that the people of Karachi deserve.
He emphasized that a hospital is more than its buildings and medical equipment, noting that the expertise, dedication and compassion of doctors, nurses and support staff ultimately determine the impact a healthcare facility makes on the community.
The minister also appreciated the efforts of the community, hospital management, medical professionals and other stakeholders who contributed to establishing the Cardiac Wing.
Speaking about the broader healthcare sector, Senator Aurangzeb highlighted the important role of private institutions in expanding access to quality healthcare and reducing pressure on the public healthcare system. He said partnerships that combine community initiatives with world-class medical expertise could serve as an important model for Pakistan.
The Finance Minister also acknowledged the longstanding tradition of community service by the Bohra community and its significant contribution to social welfare and public service initiatives across Pakistan. He commended its continued efforts to improve healthcare access and contribute to the wellbeing of society.
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb stressed that healthcare should not be considered merely a social expenditure, but rather an investment in Pakistan’s most valuable national asset — its people. A healthier population, he noted, contributes to greater productivity, stronger human capital and increased economic resilience.
He observed that initiatives based on community service and a commitment to humanity demonstrate how collective efforts can create a lasting positive impact on society.
The Finance Minister expressed hope that the newly inaugurated Cardiac Wing would develop into a centre of excellence in Karachi and establish a benchmark for cardiac healthcare that other institutions across Pakistan could aspire to follow.
